Berlin is the capital
city of Germany and one of the 16 states of Germany. With a population
of 3.5 million people, Berlin is the largest city in Germany. Situated
on the River Spree, is the center of the metropolitan region of
Berlin-Brandenburg, which has about 4.5 million inhabitants.

November 9, 1989 - The fall of the wall
During
1989, the democratic changes, small revolutions in the economy and
politics in Poland, Hungary and the Soviet Union filled daily
newspapers across Europe, only in East Berlin, time seemed to stand

demonstrate openly.
Any attempt to leave East Berlin in the direction of west Berlin still
tantamount to a suicide, but in the summer of '89 the people of East
Berlin found another way out: they were the embassies of West Germany
in Prague, Warsaw and Budapest the western territory where you could
get much more easily!
Began an assault in mass in these three embassies that had to
accommodate thousands of people tired of living in East Berlin. But the
decisive blow to the existence of East Berlin came when Hungary,
September 10, opened its borders with Austria . Now, the road from East

Even the latest attempt by the government of East Berlin to save the

roadblocks to retire and, between tears and hugs, thousands of people
